Chavez argues meetings with Fidel and Raul Castro

An emotional and fraternal meeting held today in the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Hugo Chávez Frías.

For about five hours, the two leaders discussed several current international issues, in particular, the serious risks of nuclear war hanging over mankind.

The Bolivarian leader acknowledged the important role being played by Fidel in achieving universal awareness to prevent a conflagration of incalculable consequences to mankind, and expressed his satisfaction at the excellent state of health of the Commander in Chief.

The fruitful exchange, the leader of the Cuban Revolution with Chavez shared excerpts from his new book “The strategic counteroffensive,” about to be published, and tells the details of the revolutionary war since the defeat of the offensive of the dictatorship in mid-1958 until the triumph of the First of January.

Subsequently, the Venezuelan president had a meeting with Major General Raul Castro Ruz, President of the Councils of State and Ministers, which reviewed the development of exemplary political and economic ties.

Raúl accompanied Chavez to the International Airport “José Martí”, where he went to see him off at the end of the afternoon.

Fidel Castro and the brigade “Moto Mendez:” The happiness of doing good “

Taken from Cubadebate.

By Rosa Miriam Elizalde

Cintio Vitier said that “intuit essences and enjoyed, not analyzed.” And you can understand the logic of the move, difficult to reason with coldness, Solidarity Brigade “Moto Mendez,” named after a nineteenth-century Bolivian guerrilla and involves geneticists, neurologists, neurofisioterapeutas, otolaryngologists, and psychologists defectologists that perform a task of diagnosis and subsequent treatment of the disabled.

From Bolivia, 213 in the brigade returned Tuesday night to Havana and were received by the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro at the International Airport “José Martí”.

Could the cold reasoning imposed to the data of more than 3 million homes in four countries visited, the village discovered “only in Bolivia were 101 that were not even on the maps, and above all, one million disabled people addressed? To give you an idea: 3 million households are almost as many as exist in Cuba. One million disabled people the pain is multiplied exponentially, but also, care and relief figures multiplied by millions, the qualitative mathematics.

“You have truly faced severe cases, such as human beings who are born blind and deaf and have never seen a ray of light, no sound heard. That is, have had no contact with life despite being born, and these two simple elements are enough to feel happy, sing and communicate with others simply live, “they say Fidel, who read up and vibrant voice , his “Message to internationalists returning from Bolivia.”

In the waiting room of the airport, Odalys Bravo, the head of the newly arrived brigade, told in words excited the feat of specialists, who faced the harsh conditions of the plateau, with temperatures often down to zero degree C and mountains that sometimes exceeded 6000 meters above sea level. Under no circumstances did not do their job. “We went through the nine departments, 112 provinces, 127 municipalities and 101 communities we appeared not registered in the geographical map of the country …”

They were able to recognize 82 087 Bolivians with disabilities. They offered more than 10 000 consultations of clinical genetics in a nation that has only two geneticists in the public health system. In turn, the neurologists, neurofisioterapeutas, otolaryngologists, and psychologists defectologists gave more than 15 000 consultations.

Roberto González Martín, Cuban Deputy Health Minister, contextualized that help, “a concrete contribution to peace,” he said. They have not only benefited the Bolivian families, but those of Venezuela, Ecuador and Nicaragua. Adding international aid to these countries, in nine months “have visited more than 3.329 million homes and nearly one million disabled who are unable to arrive, who were able to diagnose. They got together with our colleagues and felt people in this world. ”

“The people you serve, carry a range of suffering, you give back to the happiness of doing good, something that can not buy all the gold in the world”, I would say Fidel shortly after announcing he had signed each copy of the 213 books of the strategic victory that would receive the same amount of brigade arrived from Bolivia. They will be on the island just two weeks, just in time for a vacation before leaving for Ecuador.

Not only put his signature on one of the first pages, which reproduces exactly the red and black symbol of the July 26 Movement “organization that led the anti-Batista forces Triumph of the Revolution to the First of January 1959. He wrote the name of each of the brigade and the date they arrived in Havana on August 17, 2010. There was a murmur in the room when he broke the news. “How many hours we spent, poor thing?” Said a girl on my right. “Many, sure,” replied another. “Well, I think that book is not going to need shelter, but go to the North Pole,” interjected a young doctor, who did the impossible to hold back tears.

It was an act intense. It lasted barely 24 minutes, but hardly ever forget those who lived it. I was there the Commander in Chief of olive green, with a message that gripped those essences that “intuit and enjoy,” and that transcend the work of the Brigade “Moto Mendez.” Essences linked to the “happiness of doing good,” the very human lifeline to Fidel proposed a world on the eve of its likely wreck.

si nunca has sufrido de anorexia,

si tu estatura no afecta tu desarrollo personal,

que tiene el cutis más terso o el cabello más llamativo;

más cargos académicos;

preguntan a mí, todas las mujeres son muy ardientes… y los que estamos fuera de foco somos los hombres);

Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz send a message to the National Assembly of Cuba

At first, just eight weeks ago, I thought the imminent threat of war had no solution. So dramatic was the picture before him, he saw no way out unless it was a survival, perhaps probable, on the part of the hemisphere that had no reason to be targeted by direct and in some isolated regions of the planet.

It was very difficult, knowing that human beings always clings to a prospect, however remote.

Nevertheless, I tried.

Fortunately, not long before I realized they had a hope, and very deep indeed. Plus, if the opportunity was lost, the disaster took on the worst of the consequences. The human species would then have no possible salvation.

But I have confidence that it will not and, conversely, are now creating the conditions for a situation not even dreamed of until recently.

A man will have to take the decision alone: the President of the United States. Surely, for her many occupations, it has not yet realized, but his aides begin to understand it, you can see by simple steps as it was an end to the torture of Gerardo, a fact that had not been produced in 12 years implacable hatred of the system against Cuba and against him. Today one could predict that the next step is approval from Adriana to visit, or his immediate release, or both. For she knew that her mood is the best in 12 years of unjust and cruel imprisonment.

Since Iran does not give an inch against the demands of the United States and Israel, which have already mobilized more of the means of war that have to do it, would have to carry out the attack as soon overcomes the date agreed by the Security Council on 9 June 2010, pointing out the rules and requirements.

All that the man intended to have a limit not be exceeded.

Critical in this case, President Barack Obama is the order had to give much-heralded and trumpeted the attack, according to the norms of gigantic empire.

But in that moment that it gave the order, which is also the only one who could give because of the power, speed, and the countless number of accumulated nuclear missiles in an absurd competition between the powers by ordering the immediate death would not only hundreds of millions of people, including untold numbers of people in their own country, but the crews of all ships of the U.S. fleet in the seas around Iran. Simultaneously, the conflagration would break out in the Near and Far East, and throughout Eurasia.

By chance, at that precise moment, the President of the United States is a descendant of African and white, Muslim and Christian. WILL NOT!, If you get aware of it. It’s what we’re doing here.

The leaders of the world’s most powerful countries, allies or adversaries, with the exception of Israel, to urge him not to.

The world will pay after all the honors due to him.

The current order established on the planet can not endure, and inevitably will collapse immediately.

The so-called convertible currencies lose their value as a tool of the system that has imposed a contribution of wealth, sweat and sacrifice without limits peoples.

New forms of distribution of goods and services, education and management of social processes emerge peacefully, but if war broke out, the existing social order disappear abruptly, and the price would be infinitely greater.

The population of the planet can be regulated, non-renewable resources, preserved, climate change, avoided, and the useful work of all human beings, guaranteed, the sick, assisted, essential knowledge, culture and science in the service of man , insured. Children, adolescents and youth of the world will perish in nuclear holocaust.

It’s what I wanted to convey to you, dear comrades of our National Assembly.

I am now ready to account for these words, answer the questions they want me and listen to your views.

Thank you very much

Message from Gerardo Hernandez

In the morning Adriana Pérez, wife of Gerardo Hernández Hero Cuban political prisoner in the United States, received the following message from him by the companions of the International Committee to Free the Cuban Five.

Gerardo Hernández

Dears brothers

I hope these words dictated by telephone, so I must be brief, and also I can not tell them everything they wanted, so they do not hang up. Yesterday I took in “the hole” with the same speed with which I had gotten into him. I had been reportedly under investigation. Investigations can last three months, sometimes more, but I stayed for 13 days. As a well-known Cuban journalist would say: draw your own conclusions …

I want to express my deep gratitude. You know that were particularly difficult days by excessive heat and lack of air, but you were my oxygen. No better way to summarize the enormous importance of their joint efforts. Thank you very much to all comrades in Cuba and the world joined their voices to condemn my situation. The institutions, organizations and people of good will who, in one way or another, tried to stop the injustice.

In our President Raul both honored us with their support. Cuban Parliament President Ricardo Alarcon and, tireless fighter for the cause of the Five. My four brothers, I sent their messages of encouragement, and have been living under the constant danger of returning to suffer similar abuse. And of course, our beloved Commander in Chief: Thank you for this honor! (Do not know if I should say, but just for the privilege of hearing my name in the voice of Fidel me want to also thank those who sent me to “the hole” …)

Commander Thanks for the joy of hearing and seeing as great as ever!

Thank you all for showing once again the power of solidarity that no doubt also, someday, will make us free.

The struggle continues!

Yours,

Gerardo Hernandez

Main ideas presented by the Cuban President Raul Castro Ruz at the National Assembly of People’s Power:

-New Artemisa and Mayabeque provinces born on 1. January 2011 under a concept of saving and rational use of all resources.

- The Highway Safety Code is a contribution to the rise of social discipline.

- The unity between revolutionaries and between the leadership of the Revolution and most of the people is our most important strategic weapon.

- As part of updating the Cuban economic model agreed a package of measures to undertake, in stages, reducing considerably bulky templates in the state sector.

- The Council of Ministers also agreed to extend the exercise of self-employment more flexible contracting work force.

- By adopting these agreements, we assume that nobody will be abandoned to their fate.

- We need to erase forever the notion that Cuba is the only country in the world that you can live without working.

- In the estimates of the first half are seen encouraging results in the national economy.

- With regard to Cuba and the United States, essentially nothing has changed

Speech by Army General Raul Castro Ruz, President of the Councils of State and Ministers, at the Fifth Regular Session of the Seventh Legislature of the National Assembly of Popular Power in the International Conference Center, on 1 August 2010, “Year 52 of the Revolution.”

Dear comrades:

This session of the National Assembly has passed two important legal instruments, the Law amending the current Political-Administrative Division and the Highway Safety Code.

The amendments to the Political-Administrative Division have been widely disseminated and discussed in our press over the past months in the territories involved, as well as relevant bodies of the Party, government and the state, which allows me to put in details, just to emphasize that its primary purpose is to raise attention to the population through a more functional and rational organization of the administration and government. With this addition we are in compliance with the resolutions adopted by successive Congress Party on the need, after a reasonable time, submit the Political-Administrative Division to analysis to conform to existing conditions.

The new provinces Artemis and Mayabeque born on 1 January 2011 without repeating the mistakes that have accompanied the work of local organs of Popular Power, within a context of saving and rational use of all resources, especially with templates tailored to their functions and a clear delimitation of powers in the interrelations with the central administrative agencies of government, domestic businesses and political and mass organizations.

For its part, the Highway Safety Code, as adopted at the previous meeting defer to deepen their content, then reconcile the existing differences and advance the development of additional provisions, as a contribution to the rise of social discipline and preservation of human life and reducing economic losses.

Turning to other matters, I do not lie beyond the expectations generated logically speeches on the occasion of July 26 and in Parliament. Some were surprised that the words are located in Santa Clara were spoken by comrade Machado Ventura, a magnificent speech indeed.

It is true that since the triumph of the Revolution that task always corresponded to Fidel and rarely to me, but what matters is not the speaker, but the content of that speech, expressing the collective opinion of the Party leadership and State on the most important of national life.

Several news agencies and self-proclaimed “analysts” of the issue of Cuba, spent the days before and after the act by July 26 and countless news articles that, distorting our reality, anticipating the announcement stridently called reforms in our system social and economic implementation of recipes to harness the capitalist economy, some even dared to describe the existence of a conflict between trends in the management of the Revolution and all agree to call for more rapid and deeper in the line of removing the socialism.

By observing coldly these media campaigns is evident that almost all agencies are guided by a common thread. I’m not talking to reporters, forced to submit to the editorial line and call them draw media consortia on Cuba, but sometimes use the same phrases and prefabricated qualifiers. Not infrequently, entire paragraphs are identical, regardless of whether they are a part of the world or another.

With the experience gained in over 55 years of revolutionary struggle, it seems that we are not so bad, or that the despair and frustration are our fellow travelers. If you praise us, then we would have reason to worry.

As a colleague said Machado on 26 July: I quote: ‘proceed with a sense of responsibility, step by step, at a pace determined by us, without improvisation or rainfall, not to miss and leave behind once errors or actions not in keeping with current conditions “(end quote).

The unity between revolutionaries and between the leadership of the Revolution and most of the people is our most important strategic weapon, which has allowed us to get here and continue in the future perfecting socialism.

Although it hurts the enemy, our unity is stronger today than ever, is not the result of the false unanimity or opportunistic simulation, the unit does not preclude honest differences, but requires the discussion of different ideas, but with the same ultimate purposes of social justice and national sovereignty, which enable us to always reach the best decisions.

The unit encourages and harvest in the wider socialist democracy and open discussion of all matters, which are sensitive, with the people.

Talking about sensitive issues, I must inform you that after months of study in the context of the Cuban economic model update, the Council of Ministers at its last meeting, held on 16 and 17 July with the participation of vice- of State, other members of the Politburo and Central Committee Secretariat, the first secretaries of provincial Party committees and the chairmen of the provincial government councils, as well as pictures of the CTC centers, other mass organizations and UJC and senior agency officials agreed to a set of actions to undertake, in stages, reducing considerably bulky templates in the state sector.

Initially, we planned to conclude in the first quarter of next year, revised the treatment of jobs and wages available to workers and idled for a group of central government bodies of the state, paternalistic approaches to removing the need to discourage work for a living and thereby reduce unproductive expenditures, involving equal pay, regardless of years of employment, a wage guarantee for long periods to people who do not work.

The success of this process will depend largely on the political assurance that we undertake, under the leadership of the Party and with the active participation of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba and trade unions. It is necessary to form a climate of transparency and dialogue where prime timely and transparent information to employees, in which decisions are collegial properly and create the organizational conditions required.

Strict observance of the principle of demonstrated adequacy in determining who deserves the best right to fill a position, should help to avoid any display of favoritism, as well as gender discrimination or other, which must deal firmly with .

The Council of Ministers also agreed to extend the exercise of self-employment and its use as an alternative employment for redundant workers, eliminating many existing prohibitions for the granting of new licenses and commercialization of some productions, more flexible force recruitment work.

At the same time, at the meeting of those 16 and July 17, approved the implementation of a tax system for self-employment within the new economic scenario and ensure that incorporated this activity contribute to safety social, paid taxes on personal income and sales, and those who hire workers to pay the tribute for the use of the workforce.

Soon there will be a fully expanded National Council of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba where he will discuss in detail with key labor leaders these important decisions, which is in itself a structural and conceptual changes in the interest of preserving and developing our social system and make it sustainable in the future, so that we fulfill the mandate of the people of Cuba, enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic, that the socialist nature and the political and social system contained in it are irrevocable (Applause).

I have no doubt that the realization of these measures will have the decisive support of the working class, which together with the peasants and other sectors of society understand that without the increased efficiency and productivity is impossible to raise salaries , increase exports and replace imports, growth in food production and ultimately sustain themselves enormous social costs of our socialist system, an area which also is our duty to be rational, saving a lot more without sacrificing quality.

On the other hand, I think no one would escape the momentous contribution to improving social and labor discipline emanating from the implementation of these measures.

By adopting these agreements, we assume that nobody will be abandoned to their fate, the socialist state will provide the support necessary for a dignified life through the social welfare system to those who really are not able to work and are the sole supporters of their families. We must erase forever the notion that Cuba is the only country in the world that you can live without working.

We have also advanced in the studies by the Economic Policy Committee of the Sixth Congress of the Party and continuously operate the various working groups established for the preparation of proposals, discussed in advance with party militants and the population as a whole.

In the midst of the adverse international economic situation and its inevitable impact on our country, estimates of the first half are seen encouraging results in the national economy, despite the failure to plan for sugar and other agricultural outputs due to alignment errors and also by the effects of drought.

Increase the arrivals of foreign visitors, oil production is met, is maintained and even improved, the domestic monetary equilibrium, labor productivity reflects a higher rate than the average wage, a goal that could not be reached for several years, rise modestly reduced exports and consumption of energy carriers, from the reorganization of transport and the effect of other cost saving measures.

Electricity consumption reflects positive results in the state sector, unlike the residential grows more than expected.

Exactly one year ago I referred to external financial constraints we faced due to accumulation of payment obligations and the need to carry out debt renegotiations. Today I can report that thanks to the confidence and understanding of most of our creditors, we have made some progress in the postponement of obligations, which have the strongest desire to honor the new time limit agreed. Also, the withholding of transfers to the outside suppliers accumulated by that date, are now barely a third of those a year ago and, as a sign of security in the country have increased foreign deposits in Cuban banks.

I turn to another topical issue. For sovereign decision and strict adherence to our laws, in recent days was completed release and departure of the first 21 inmates counter, out of 53 sanctioned in 2003 for crimes against state security.

Previously, since 2004, was granted parole 22 others punished in the same court case.

It should be remembered that none of these people was sentenced for his ideas, as they have tried to see the brutal smear campaigns against Cuba, in different regions of the world.

As became irrefutably proven in the act of the trial, all had committed crimes and punished under our laws, acting as officers of the United States government and its policy of blockade and subversion.

Do not forget that at that time 2003, then-President George W. Bush, intoxicated with the apparent victories in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, proclaimed the “regime change” in Cuba and threatened our national security directly, even to publicly designate an auditor to administer the country after being occupied, as they had just to do in Iraq. As a result, dozens of plans were hatched to destabilize the internal and hijacking of aircraft and ships that we had to face very strongly, based on strict respect for the law.

The Revolution can be generous because it is strong, its strength lies in the majority support of people who have managed to resist aggression and many years of sacrifices, so there it is idle to reiterate that there will be no impunity for the enemies of the fatherland, for those who attempt to compromise our independence (Applause).

Nobody should be mistaken. The defense of our sacred achievements of our streets and squares, will remain the first duty of revolutionaries who can not be deprived of that right (applause).

Outside the text we can say that the poor auditor appointed by George W. Bush remained unemployed (laughter).

As for Cuba and the United States, essentially nothing has changed, our brave Cuban Five remain unjustly imprisoned and suffer abusive treatment, such as the cruelty that is currently committed partner Gerardo Hernandez, condemned by this House. Although there is less rhetoric and occasional bilateral talks are held on specific and limited, in fact, the blockade is still applied and we continue to act with calm and patience that we have learned in more than half a century.

We, the Cuban revolutionaries difficulties do not take away our dream, our only way is to continue the struggle with unwavering optimism and faith in victory.

Thank you very much (Ovation).

DECLARATION

Since Wednesday, 21st of July, Gerardo Hernández Nordelo has been in “the hole” again; this time in conditions so harsh that his health and physical integrity are being seriously affected. He is locked in a minimum-space punishment cell with no ventilation that he shares with another prisoner, withstanding temperatures above 100°F, with no contact permitted with the outside world. In this action against our comrade took part FBI officials that made it clear that Gerardo is confined by a decision of that agency. Throughout the long process against the Five Cubans, US Federal authorities have employed similar methods to impede their defense and obstruct justice. On the eve of each of their appeals, our comrades were isolated in “the hole” to make it impossible to communicate with their attorneys. History is now repeating itself when Gerardo has filed a habeas corpus, the last legal resource remaining to him in the U.S. system that unjustly convicted him and imposed the barbaric sentence of two life terms plus 15 years in prison. For the twelve years since his arrest, the U.S. authorities have banned his wife, Adriana Perez Oconor, from visiting him. Gerardo has maintained his indomitable courage, his unyielding will, his optimism and his belief in victory. He is a young man, just turned 45, but twelve years of imprisonment in conditions of extreme cruelty have begun to seriously affect his health. He suffers various ailments that are not addressed, causing deep concern. Since April Gerardo had been trying, unsuccessfully, to be seen by a prison doctor. This did not happen until Tuesday, July 20, when he was diagnosed with two serious problems and the need for additional exams was determined. But the next day Gerardo was not sent to the hospital, but instead was locked in a brutal punishment cell. Since then he has not seen the doctor nor received any sort of treatment. This situation must cease immediately. We hold the U.S. Government responsible for the health and physical integrity of Gerardo Hernández Nordelo. Let us, one and all, raise our voices to save Gerardo, a hero, an innocent who deserves to live in freedom. National Assembly of the People’s Power of the Republic of Cuba. August 1st 2010
